What will you be doing?

As an AV Volunteer, you will support the technical delivery of Dream Big Day and future events organised by Mr Motivator's Bed Bank.

Working alongside our AV Coordinator and wider event team, you will help ensure that presentations, audio, visual content and live streaming run smoothly throughout the day. Responsibilities may include assisting with the setup and testing of equipment, supporting live-streaming activities, troubleshooting minor technical issues, operating equipment under supervision and helping ensure virtual participants have a positive experience.

Dream Big Day includes a live audience as well as schools joining remotely through an online platform. Your support will help us engage children both in the venue and those taking part virtually, ensuring everyone can access and enjoy the event regardless of location.

There may also be opportunities to support filming and content creation activities, working alongside videographers and the communications team to capture content that helps raise awareness of bed poverty and promote future events.

Prior AV experience is essential. We have an experienced AV Coordinator leading delivery, and we are looking for volunteers who are willing to learn, can follow instructions and are comfortable working as part of a team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in live events, broadcasting, streaming and event production while supporting a charity that is making a real difference to children and families.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers who have an interest in live events, technology, broadcasting, media production or community engagement.

Previous experience with audio-visual equipment, live streaming, filming or event production. Full guidance and support will be provided by our AV Coordinator.

Key qualities include:

  • An interest in audio-visual technology, media or live events.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to learn and take direction.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Reliability and strong timekeeping.
  • Confidence working in a busy event environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability during live events.
  • A commitment to supporting our mission to tackle bed poverty.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who are passionate about making a difference and helping us deliver engaging events that inspire children and support families experiencing bed poverty..

What difference will you make?

The success of our events relies on children being able to see, hear and engage with the content, whether they are attending in person or joining remotely.

By supporting the technical delivery of Dream Big Day and future events, you will help us reach more schools, engage larger audiences and extend our impact beyond the venue itself. Your contribution will help create a professional and inclusive experience for everyone taking part.

As Mr Motivator's Bed Bank grows, we plan to replicate successful events across Wigan and other locations nationally. Having skilled and committed AV Volunteers will be essential in helping us scale our events, strengthen our digital reach and connect with more children, families and communities.

Ultimately, your support will help us share our message more widely, raise awareness of bed poverty and inspire more people to take action.
