This is an opportunity to be the right hand to the Managing Director on one of the biggest reforestation investments in the world. Project Colobus is a 70,000 hectare mountain range restoration project in eastern Ghana. You will learn 10x more than an MBA, working at the intersection of nature, operations and finance.
ABOUT RAINFOREST BUILDER
Rainforest Builder builds and manages large-scale tropical forest restoration projects in West Africa, generating high quality carbon removal credits for some of the world's biggest companies. We have offtake agreements with companies like Microsoft, and our Series A was led by BNP Paribas AM Alts. Around 2,500 people work for us across three active projects.
ABOUT PROJECT COLOBUS
Project Colobus is a 70,000 hectare restoration project in the mountains of the Ghana-Togo border, in forest reserves leased to us by the Forestry Commission of Ghana. We combine intensive planting of mixed indigenous species with fire protection and assisted natural regeneration. The teams, systems and habits that will run it for the next century are being built now, and the person in this role will shape a lot of them.
THE ROLE
You'll be the Managing Director's right hand. Your job is to make sure the biggest problems on Colobus get solved, and that every important decision is made with good numbers behind it.
You'll work across every department: silviculture, nursery, fire protection, social performance, HR, finance and supply chain. You'll build the models, KPIs and reporting that show what's working, then help each team lead act on them. You'll also be the project's link to headquarters and the founders.
This isn't a slide-making job. You'll spend real time in the field and own outcomes, not recommendations. You'll see every part of a large operation up close and learn how to run one.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Take on the MD's biggest issues: planting productivity today, cost per hectare or a key hire tomorrow
- Bring analytics into every team: own the operating model, KPIs and dashboards
- Run the operating rhythm: business plan, budget, monthly performance reviews
- Be the link with the HQ: finance, carbon, science, commercial, the Co-CEOs and support in reporting to the investors
- Lead special projects: a VERRA verification, a new function, the next phase of land
WHO YOU ARE
A sharp, analytical generalist who wants real responsibility early in their career. You'll be as comfortable building a cost model as sitting down with a nursery manager to work out why germination rates have dropped.
- Two or more years at a top strategy consulting firm, a high-growth start-up or another high-calibre organisation
- An excellent degree in an analytical subject from a top university
- Strong modelling skills and a strong command of Claude and other AI tools
- Clear writing and the confidence to present to senior executives and investors
- Able to work well with colleagues from very different backgrounds
- Time in Africa or another frontier market is a plus
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive base salary plus stock options
- 40 working days' leave a year, taken as 10 days every quarter, with four return flights home
- Your first month at our UK office, then up to a week there every quarter
- Furnished accommodation at the project, visa and work permit arranged
- Emergency medical and evacuation cover
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and a clear path into senior operating roles
LOCATION
Based at the project in the Oti Region of Ghana.
8 weeks of leave per year (2 weeks every quarter) and one week per quarter working from the London office.
