At Dig Deep Challenges, we combine unforgettable experiences with the power to make a difference.
No one should have to live without clean water, safe sanitation & good hygiene. So we built a fundraising challenge that does something about it: turning Kilimanjaro climbs into lasting change, one summit at a time. Over the last 15 years we've supported over 2000 people on this challenge raising £5 million for our parent charity Dig Deep (Africa).
We’re looking for an Operations Manager to help make sure all of our Kilimanjaro challenge fundraisers arrive prepared, are well looked after on the mountain and get home safely.
You will:
- Prepare participants for their climb, from pre-departure information to collecting and checking their health, medical and travel details
- Plan climb dates and groups, and organise transfers and accommodation for climbers, staff and medics
- Support the recruitment and management of our volunteer medics
- Be the first point of contact for our local tour operators in Tanzania during challenge preparation and delivery
- Spend up to 4 weeks in Tanzania each climb season (mainly August to September), co-ordinating the operations on the ground alongside our staff, medics and suppliers
- Use participant feedback each year to make the climbs safer and better run
You’ll be someone who:
- Enjoys detail, data handling and keeps accurate records as a matter of habit
- Is able to handle complex operations with calm, sound judgement under pressure
- Communicates clearly with large groups, in writing and in person
- Has experience in operations, events, travel or logistics, in any sector
- Can work independently from home in the UK, and travel to Tanzania for the climb season
A charity background isn’t essential. Experience of challenge events, expeditions or high-altitude trekking is a bonus, not a requirement.
Why Dig Deep Challenges? We're a not for profit who organise our climbs directly, which keeps fundraising targets achievable and maximises the money raised for our charity projects in Bomet. We’re a small, growing team and this is a brand new role. You’ll help to deliver unforgettable experiences for hundreds of students and young professionals every year whilst raising the funds to achieve lasting change in Bomet County, Kenya.
