Unseen is working towards a world without slavery. We provide safe houses and support in the community for survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery. We also run the UK’s Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline and work with individuals, communities, businesses, governments, other charities, and statutory agencies to stamp out modern slavery for good.

We are looking for a full-time (part-time considered) experienced leader to run our crucial 24/7 helpline services, over the coming 12 months, to provide cover for the current postholder’s period of maternity leave. We are looking for someone with a strong track record in managing diverse and busy front-line teams and who has experience of working with vulnerable individuals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated strategic thinker to join a fast-paced and ambitious organisation at a time of growth and re-organisation. As a strong and inspirational leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline, driving a quality and informed response at all times.

Using your leadership experience you will help to build and grow the internal capabilities of the Helpline team, including oversight of our data function. Your inquiring mind, can-do attitude and ability to manage a fast-paced project, providing core services to the vulnerable, will be key.

Your leadership style will ensure you strive to get the best out of your teams, and you will have a passion for personal growth and learning as well as a track record in developing others to succeed.

Evidence of working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver challenging and ambitious projects, to time, is essential. Confidence and competence in working with data and numbers would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be passionate about Unseen’s work and able to articulate its values with confidence and professionalism to stakeholders, partners, and funders. Full and ongoing training and supervision are provided.

The core Helpline team is based out of Unseen’s Bedfordshire office. The successful candidate will be required in our Bedfordshire office for some training upon commencement of the role, and following this we would ask for attendance in Bedfordshire a few times per month, and on occasion to Unseen’s Head Office in Bristol.

We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible (subject to satisfactory references and completion of induction).

Please refer to the job pack on our website for more details.

To apply:

1. Please complete Unseen’s application form (link on our website) for the role which includes a personal statement of between 500-700 words outlining your suitability for the role, some personal details and equal opportunities questions, and;

The deadline for applications is 13 March 2022.

As an organisation focused on equality and diversity, we welcome applications from all sections of the community we serve including those with lived experience of modern slavery, those with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and religion, people of colour, those with disabilities and those from the LGBTQ+ community.
