What will you be doing?
Working with the Chair and Board of Trustees, you will help ensure that our governance runs smoothly and that trustees can focus on the organisation’s research, development and wider impact.
Your contribution will include:
- Helping organise Board meetings and coordinate diaries.
- Preparing agendas and circulating meeting papers.
- Taking clear, accurate minutes that capture key decisions and actions.
- Maintaining organised records of meetings, decisions and follow-up actions.
- Helping the Board keep track of agreed actions and important governance matters.
- Providing practical administrative support to the Chair and trustees as needed.
There may also be opportunities to help improve administrative processes and develop the systems that support the Board’s effectiveness.
You will be a valued member of a collaborative, remote team, working directly with people who volunteer their time and expertise to improve health and wellbeing.
What are we looking for?
We'd like to hear from you, if you have at least three years professional UK experience in a relevant administrative role.
You do not need to be a health researcher or have a background in the NHS. What matters most is that you are organised, dependable, communicate clearly and enjoy helping a team work effectively.
You might have experience in:
- Administration, personal assistance or executive support.
- Organising meetings, preparing papers or taking minutes.
- Supporting a committee, board, professional association or voluntary organisation.
- Keeping records, coordinating actions and ensuring deadlines are met.
Experience of charity governance or working with a board would be useful, but we welcome applicants with transferable skills and an interest in learning more about how charities are run.
Above all, we are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things well, handles confidential information appropriately and shares our belief that better prevention and evidence-informed decisions can improve people’s lives.
What difference will you make?
Good governance is essential to a charity’s effectiveness. By helping our Board stay organised, informed and focused, you will enable trustees to devote more of their time to the work that matters most.
We investigate the causes of preventable illness, research effective approaches to prevention and seek to translate research into practical insights for policy and practice. We're particularly concerned about the growing health inequalities in the UK and want to make sure people's health here isn't such a postcode lottery
Your contribution will help create the strong organisational foundations that allow this work to progress. Although much of your role will take place behind the scenes, you will be helping an organisation pursue better health outcomes and a fairer chance of good health for everyone.
