THIS IS US Dott is the European champion of shared micromobility. Created through the merger of operators TIER and Dott in March 2024, the company decided to move forward under the single app and brand Dott. With the mission of moving us closer, Dott facilitates easy urban travel, reduces pollution in cities, and decreases reliance on cars. Today, Dott deploys 200,000 shared vehicles in 400 cities and 20 countries across Europe and the Middle East. The 12 million users have generated over 500 million rides so far. The team is led by CEO Maxim Romain and Executive Chairman Henri Moissinac. For more information, visit www.ridedott.com. THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT AT DOTT Full-time, permament and hybrid (3 days/week in the office). About the team User Growth owns the moment a download becomes a rider. We turn installs — driven by Marketing, Brand, and Partnerships — into Riders who create an account, take their first Dott ride, and come back for a second. We work cross-functionally and run experiments in days, not months. The role You'll be the tech lead manager for User Growth: hands-on (about 70% of your time) across the stack, backend-heavy, leading a small team of engineers, and the single point of technical accountability for the health of the onboarding-to-second-ride funnel. You'll own the backend of the onboarding experience and build the experimentation and attribution capability that lets the whole team build and iterate fast. You'll work alongside a Product Manager and with Marketing, CRM, Commercial and Payments. A lot of what you ship depends on teams you don't manage, so you'll get things done through influence as much as through code. What you'll do Own the path to the first ride: the backend behind sign-up, verification, ID checks, referrals and promo codes, and city-policy acceptance. It's every step a new rider goes through before they unlock a vehicle. Build the growth toolkit: experimentation and feature flags, install and deep-link attribution, and instrumentation from install to second ride. Orchestrate the mobile surface: translate funnel priorities into client work with our mobile engineers, own the contract between backend and client. Partner cross-functionally: turn growth hypotheses from Product, Marketing, CRM, and Commercial into shippable experiments, and make sure installs from various channels convert cleanly downstream. Develop the team: coach and grow engineers, and set the bar with pragmatic architecture, tight feedback loops and a bias toward action. What success looks like More installs become accounts. More accounts take a first ride. More first riders come back. You own the technical levers behind each step and how fast the team can test new ideas. What you’ll need Experience owning a consumer conversion funnel, with proof your work moved the metric Senior backend experience in a typed language. TypeScript/Node.js is ideal, but Go, Kotlin or Java are fine if you're happy to switch. Fluency with gRPC (or a track record of picking up a new RPC paradigm fast). Experience across both relational (PostgreSQL) and document (Firestore-style NoSQL) data models, with the judgment to know which fits which problem. A habit of treating instrumentation as part of "done": you design the events and then use the data. Bonus points if you’ve Read enough Swift or Kotlin to review mobile work and own the API contract. Worked with attribution and deep-linking tools like Adjust, AppsFlyer or Branch. Integrated identity, OTP or messaging vendors. Our stack TypeScript/Node.js services talking over gRPC/ConnectRPC, running on GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub), with PostgreSQL, Firestore and BigQuery. You don't need to know all of it on day one.
