Our Streets Now exists to end public sexual harassment, so that everyone can feel safe in public spaces.
Public sexual harassment shapes how people move through the world, and its impact is felt differently depending on age, gender, race, disability, sexuality and class. We’re looking for a values-driven Lead Director to take our mission further and turn our ambitions into lasting change.
As Lead Director, you’ll be accountable for delivering our 2025–2028 strategy and making sure our impact is meaningful and measurable. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead delivery of our 2025–2028 strategy, turning priorities into clear plans with measurable impact
- Drive financial sustainability and growth by developing income streams and meeting funding targets
- Lead and develop a small, exceptional team of directors, sharing decision-making while keeping accountability clear
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial management of our c.£100k annual budget
- Act as primary liaison with the Board and as Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Raise our profile and build relationships with funders, partners and stakeholders
We’re looking for a Lead Director who is a collaborative, empathetic leader with strategic vision, a track record in fundraising and financial oversight, and the resilience to thrive in a small, scaling organisation. You’ll bring a deep commitment to young people’s leadership and an intersectional approach to decisions, policy and programme design. Experience from adjacent fields such as VAWG, domestic abuse, youth work, safeguarding or violence prevention is equally valued. We assess capability rather than career path: evidence may come from any setting in which you held responsibility.
The Lead Director role is part-time (3–4 days per week) at £49,000–£60,000 FTE, pro rata, and is remote with some travel. The total package depends on the number of days worked. Please read the attached job pack, which sets out the full responsibilities and essential criteria for the Lead Director role, before applying.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation. We particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented in the charity sector, including people of colour, younger people, disabled people, and LGBTQ+ candidates. We also value lived experience of public sexual harassment, which guides our work.
