A natural capital scheme starts as an idea about a piece of land. Somewhere between that idea and a restored landscape sits a great deal of unglamorous, decisive work. This role is that work.

As our Natural Capital Delivery Intern, you’ll help take schemes from concept through to feasibility, design, validation and delivery: woodland creation, peatland restoration, biodiversity units and the emerging markets beyond them. You’ll work across our Intelligence, estate and Capital teams, as well as the validators, agents and contractors who stand between a good idea and a registered, funded project.

The scale is real, and so is the impact. The schemes you support will change these landscapes for many centuries to come.

About You Environment

A love for the natural world and rural environment, and a commitment to its ecological restoration.

Strong knowledge of landscape ecology, land management or environmental science.

A working understanding or interest of the natural capital sector including the mechanics of the codes and standards (Woodland Carbon Code, Peatland Code, BNG and emerging international protocols) and a willingness to learn them in depth.

Understands that restoration at scale is a technical discipline, built on real expertise.

Impact

Organised and calm across multiple projects at different stages, keeping every one of them moving forward.

Excellent attention to detail. Strong documentation is what turns a great project into a validated, funded one.

A natural problem solver who enjoys finding a way through whenever a project meets a constraint.

Proactive with the ability to work independently and speak confidently with a range of external stakeholders and consultants.

Adventure

Genuinely excited to be out on our estates, learning from the land and shaping projects where they will actually happen.

Comfortable in a fast-moving market where the rules are still being written.

Together

Strong stakeholder engagement skills, bringing contractors, validators, agents and estate teams together so projects can move at pace.

Collaborative across the Natural Capital team and the wider Oxygen Conservation team.

And let’s be honest, you have to be really kind too. Sharing snacks on long journeys or a packed lunch in the driving rain is mandatory!

We believe in recruiting exceptional people and creating opportunities that allow you to do incredible things. You don’t need to tick every box above, and you don’t need to look or sound a certain way to belong here. We are committed to building a genuinely diverse team drawn from across the country, with a wide range of lived and learnt experiences. It doesn’t matter what point in your career you are at, what school you went to, or whether you have a degree or not. We want exceptional people with a desire to make a difference.

What We’d Love You To Do Project Development Supporting the full lifecycle of our natural capital projects from concept through to design, feasibility and delivery.
