Rivan Industries is a pioneering synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonizing heavy industry. Our mission is to make synthetic fuel more affordable than fossil fuels, thereby sustaining life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants that include a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor. We also integrate these systems with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. Recently, we deployed the UK's largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to significantly scale our operations. The role: As an Electrical/Controls Engineering Intern, you will be instrumental in the installation, configuration, and debugging of sensors and actuators for our DAC/Electrolyser/Reactor pilots. You will build evaluation and test rigs, integrate and commission electrical and controls cabinets, and collaborate with our process, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to swiftly resolve field issues. Job requirements: Core skills required include industrial control and communications fundamentals, knowledge of 4–20 mA / 0–10 V analogue signalling, Modbus (RTU/TCP), CAN bus, OPC UA, TCP/IP, RS-485, understanding of electrical noise sources, effects, and mitigation methods, and the ability to read, analyse, and implement schematics, wiring, and network topologies. Hands-on experience in panel wiring, crimping, and field terminations is essential. Preferable skills: Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 (ST/LD/FBD), Python 3, data visualisation and analysis, SCADA/Historian basics (trending, alarms, tags), version control (Git), and simple CI/issue tracking, along with Linux fundamentals and networking tools (ssh/ping/traceroute) are advantageous. Benefits: The position offers a competitive salary range of £30-40k, depending on experience, and flexible time off. The role is available immediately on a full-time or part-time basis and requires in-person work at our headquarters in Bermondsey, South London.
