Primary purpose of role:
WECare’s HR/PA is responsible for overseeing HR and administrative tasks at the WECare Hospital in Sri Lanka, as well as lending assistance to the founder and practice management in relation to their workloads and availability.
We aim to make 2022 a year to write home about with lots of exciting projects and expansion in the pipeline. We need a HR Manager who can come on this journey with us and help the charity grow whilst maintaining our core values throughout the staff body and also, directly assisting management with their growing demands.
Key responsibilities:
1. Overseeing WECare HR requirements:
Recruitment of new staff
- Running the recruitment process for staff and volunteers, from advertising and interviews, to offering, negotiating and finalising packages, visas and contracts.
- Liaising with staff prior to them coming out to Sri Lanka, and sending out relevant supporting documentation.
- Creating and implementing an induction programme and working with the Head of Organisation to produce a comprehensive staff handbook.
- Develop HR planning strategies, considering immediate and long term staff requirements.
Management of current staff
- Develop and implement HR strategies policies and procedures.
- Nurture a positive working environment and work to retain staff on a long term basis.
- Managing rosters, visas, payroll and performance/salary reviews.
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing grievances and disputes.
- Interpret and advise on employment law.
- Plan and deliver training to the team.
- Ensuring staff welfare is prioritised and regular ‘check ins’ are scheduled.
2. Personal Assistant (to Founder) duties:
- Creating, editing and amending documents.
- Managing diaries and encouraging good time management.
- Organising meetings, setting agendas, taking minutes and following up.
- Replying to emails and messages, and taking phone calls.
3. Other:
- General office and administration duties
- Assisting with event organisation and management
- General mucking in; there are no hierarchies here!
Key attributes:
- Must love animals!
- Experience working in HR, ideally >3 years.
- Strong interpersonal and management skills.
- Ability to use a range of office software, including email, spreadsheets and databases.
- Approachable team player, with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Self-motivated and able to use initiative.
- Open to learning and gaining an understanding into the challenges faced in Sri Lanka.
- Super organised and trustworthy.
- Resilient and willing to take on a challenge!
