We are looking for a driven, ambitious and talented CEO to take over our snack company, Taking The Pea. After three years of product development and market growth, including supermarkets and some of the UK’s biggest wholesalers, we are looking for someone to take over and bring it to the next level.

Taking the Pea makes crunchy, planet-friendly pea snacks. High in protein, fibre, vegan, and low-calorie, they are the perfect snack for the modern-day consumer as a healthy alternative to crisps and nuts.

After years of work, we’ve built a strong foundation in the UK snack market. We're already stocked with some of the biggest names in UK food distribution, including Bidfood, Co-op, DDC, Epicurium, Mr Lemonade and Castell Howell, with more on the horizon and a growing base of offices, universities, hotels and airports/airlines. The product works, the brand works, buyers say yes.

The logistics are all in place: manufacturing, packing, warehousing, distribution. The ideal candidate will be able to take this and nurture existing relationships with established clients, as well as growing the business for new sales. We would stay on as silent partners to advise and help where necessary to ensure a smooth and educational transition.

We have a large amount of stock already paid for which will be yours to sell. You will receive a significant amount of equity, and will use the cash from sales to pay yourself as well as reinvest in the business as you best see fit. If you are ambitious, this is about as direct a line between effort and reward as you'll find.

Your role

  • You will be the CEO and the success, decisions, and rewards of the business will lie with you.
  • You will drive existing sales and develop new business, including large national accounts such as British Airways and UK supermarkets, as well as: travel, workplace, gifting, export, D2C.
  • Maintain our partner network, keep the manufacturing, packing, storage and distribution partners working hard for you.
  • Managing pricing margins, stock and cash flow. Every pound that comes in is yours to allocate wisely.
  • Build the team and grow the business.
  • Be the face of Taking The Pea. Attend buyer meetings, trade shows, and grow our business and our story.
  • Provide regular updates to the founders and investor.

What's in it for you

  • A large chunk of equity to incentivise you to make this your own and reap the rewards in a future sale
  • Autonomy to fund the business as you see fit using the growing sales from our pipeline
  • A business that is already set up, working, and ready to be taken to the next level
  • Experienced backers in your corner. Two founders and an investor who've built it this far and want to see you win.
  • Work remotely whenever you want when not required to attend in-person meetings such as trade shows
  • A mission worth getting out of bed for. A healthier, more sustainable snack you get to put in front of the whole country.

Who we're looking for

FMCG experience is essential. We want an experienced professional who is passionate and ambitious in taking a business, growing it, and reaping the rewards. You must be personable and able to develop meaningful relationships with major clients around the country.

This is a big opportunity for the right person: the operations are already in place, the relationships with buyers are already there. We are looking for someone to continue to grow it and build off our success.
