At Much Better Adventures, we exist to make it easier for people to get outside, challenge themselves, and come back changed. We're a fully remote, mission-driven B-Corp, building the global leader in positive impact outdoor adventure travel.

This is not your typical junior HR role, it's a rare opportunity to be part of a mission-led, VC backed, high growth business. You will have direct access to leadership, the opportunity to learn and grow rapidly, and earn high autonomy.

We're looking to build a people experience that matches the adventures we sell: purposeful, well run and genuinely energising. You'll be the go-to partner for our managers and team across the full employee lifecycle, keeping our remote-first culture strong as we grow. It's a hands-on role with real scope to shape how we hire, develop, reward and look after our people.

About the Role / What We Are Looking For

As HR Manager, you'll run day-to-day people operations and act as a trusted advisor to managers and leaders on everything from employee relations to performance and development. You'll own our core HR processes, policies and systems, keeping them compliant, simple and fit for a remote team spread across locations.

You'll lead the planning and delivery of inspiring, adventurous team meet ups to keep the team connected. You’ll also have a direct line to our Leadership Team, supporting them with administrative and organisational tasks such as travel bookings, staff gifts and incentives, team stash, comms and equipment.

Alongside the operational work, you'll help deliver our people plan, including performance cycles, learning and development, salary benchmarking and engagement.

Requirements

  1. 3+ years' experience in a generalist HR role, with experience being the lead or main day-to-day HR point of contact
  2. High confidence running core people processes such as onboarding, annual performance review cycle, employee record keeping, absence and leaver management
  3. Proven track record of planning, supporting and running inspiring team events such as squad team meetings, annual planning meetups, and leadership offsites.
  4. Experience as the main HR lead for monthly payroll processes alongside Finance
  5. Solid working knowledge of UK employment law and confidence handling uncomplex employee relations cases end to end
  6. Strong judgement and discretion, with the ability to support managers directly with a range of people tasks, and give clear, practical advice
  7. Uses AI daily to make people operations processes more efficient
  8. Organised, efficient and comfortable supporting the LT with admin tasks big or small, sometimes at short notice
  9. Highly skilled with HRIS and ATS tools (e.g. Charlie HR, Workable) and keeping people data accurate
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication, suited to a fully remote, async-friendly team
  11. Low-ego, flexible, proactive, positive can-do attitude
