What will you be doing?

We are a team of volunteers who run a unique charity fundraising service called Givto, which is helping good causes across the UK and beyond. Givto enables people to discover and donate to a different charity each month with one simple Direct Debit.

We need someone who can take ownership of much of our day-to-day organisational running, ensuring that things are well organised, followed through and delivered.

You will be a key member of our Leadership Team, working closely with our CEO and other Directors to turn our strategy and decisions into action. This is a hands-on leadership role: as a small charity run entirely by volunteers, you won't have an operations team beneath you, so we're looking for someone who is as comfortable getting things done themselves as they are providing leadership and direction.

You will:

  • have overall responsibility for the operational running and governance of the volunteer team
  • work closely with the CEO to turn organisational priorities and Leadership Team decisions into action, taking responsibility for coordinating delivery and ensuring things are followed through
  • develop internal policies, systems and processes to ensure they are as effective and efficient as possible
  • lead on organisational planning, monitoring and reporting
  • help coordinate activity across the volunteer team, ensuring responsibilities are clear and supporting people to deliver agreed priorities
  • oversee the charity’s risk management policy and log
  • liaise with the Trustee Board Secretary to maintain an effective flow of business between the Board and the wider team and ensure the Board’s decisions are properly communicated and carried out
  • provide advice and guidance to trustees, leadership team and volunteers on governance-related matters
  • manage the onboarding and offboarding of volunteers
  • coordinate our full team and Leadership Team meetings, ensuring actions are agreed, followed through and delivered
  • identify operational problems and opportunities for improvement, taking the initiative to resolve them wherever possible
  • ensure the work of the charity is delivered in line with its own policies and charity regulations
  • ensure that volunteers feel supported in their roles in order to maximise volunteer engagement

What are we looking for?

You must have:

  • experience of operating effectively at a senior level, with responsibility for turning organisational priorities into action and getting things delivered
  • a track record of taking ownership, using your initiative and working independently to see things through
  • the ability and willingness to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in a small organisation
  • experience of implementing and ensuring internal governance is followed
  • the ability to engage with partners and stakeholders to deliver both joint and organisational aims, with excellent communication skills and positive working relationships
  • experience of problem solving and developing innovative solutions to organisation-wide issues
  • a proven ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload, balancing strategic priorities with hands-on delivery

It would be nice if you:

  • have experience of charities, voluntary organisations or other purpose-led organisations, particularly in an operations or governance role

What difference will you make?

Givto is unique. It's a bit like a digital version of the supermarket charity token schemes. It enables people to give to different charities but ensure that their personal information is safe. Our users and the charities we support have told us it is already making a difference and enabling charities to reach people who would never have heard of them otherwise. That's because no matter how big or small a charity is, or what cause they support, they all get a platform with Givto.

We are still relatively new and unknown. You will play a central role in running the organisation behind Givto - ensuring our people, systems, governance and day-to-day operations work effectively and that we are able to turn our ambitions into action. The more we grow the greater the operational challenges, but the more money we raise for good causes across the UK and beyond.

You will also be joining an amazing team of volunteers who develop and run the Givto service. We are a dynamic and friendly team who love to learn from each other, share best practice, and have fun too.

Anything else...

Around 4–7 hours a week on average, although this will vary and can be worked flexibly around other commitments. Most of our meetings take place in the evenings.
