Remote (ideally within EST to CET time zones)
We’re looking for an Operations Lead to own legal, compliance, and governance across ChangeX, and to contribute to wider operations. Location: Remote (ideally within EST to CET time zones) Role status: Full-time, permanent role Remuneration: Competitive salary subject to experience and location (approx. €65,000 – €90,000 or local currency equivalent) plus benefits About ChangeX We have built a platform to connect communities to proven ideas and funding to scale impact sustainably. Our mission is to empower people everywhere to change their communities for the better by making it easy for them to access the ideas, funding, and support they need. With our support, great ideas like Ecosystem Restoration, Education for Sharing, Revolusolar, Play Action Box, Open Orchard, and Community Fridge are being adopted by communities across the world. More than 35,000 community projects have started through ChangeX, scaling more than 285 proven ideas and positively impacting more than three million people. Our business model, Impact as a Service, makes it easy for funders to invest in the ideas they want to spread in the regions they care about most. Our partners include Microsoft, LEGO Group, ServiceNow, and Amazon, among several others. This role This is a new role on our Operations team, and a chance for a hands-on legal and compliance generalist to build the foundations behind how ChangeX scales. We currently operate two entities, a team of around 35 people across several countries, and community funds on five continents. That means many contracts, policies, regulators, and moving parts. You’ll own them. Most of your time will go on governance, legal, and compliance: drafting, editing, and managing contracts, keeping us compliant as we hire and grant in new countries, leading the initial desk research yourself and bringing in external lawyers and advisers where needed. You’ll also be an operations generalist, picking up other operational priorities as they come up. You’ll report to our Head of Operations and work closely with People and Finance, plus our Impact, Partnerships, Communications and Product teams. In this role, you will: Lead new-region exploration. Scope the legal and regulatory picture before we grant or hire somewhere new, and run regular reviews of the countries we already work in, starting with your own research and AI tools, and bringing in external advisers where needed. Lead compliance for India, and China as we expand there. Work with our India-based team, including setting up new legal entities as we grow. Lead partner contracting. Draft ChangeX-led contracts and review partner-led ones for partners such as corporate funders and social innovators. Negotiate terms alongside our Partnerships team, and bring in external lawyers for complex deals. Own team contracting. Work out what it takes to hire and contract people in new countries, and manage employment and consultant contracts and benefits across our locations, as well as onboarding and offboarding processes. Support governance across both entities. Look after board meetings, statutory filings, and director records. Own our risk register. Keep it current, track compliance across our entities and the countries we work in, and flag emerging risks to leadership and the board early. Write and maintain our policies, internal and external. Cover privacy, data protection, child protection, probation and more. Own information security. Work with our Head of Engineering to keep our data and systems safe, with controls that are pragmatic and proportionate to our size and risk. Manage our insurance process. Make sure our cover keeps pace with what we do. Improve the systems that help us scale. Think contract signing, approvals and document management. Contribute to general ops when needed. Help with recruitment, our annual offsite, finance and planning. We are looking for people* who have: A demonstrated commitment to community-driven change and a strong understanding of social and environmental issues. 5+ years’ experience in a legal, compliance, or governance role, ideally in a startup, non-profit, or international organisation. A legal qualification is a bonus, not a must. Confidence in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts. Experience with employment and HR compliance across more than one country. US experience is a strong plus. A pragmatic approach, with the judgement to find solutions that keep the organisation compliant without slowing it down. A working knowledge of data protection and safeguarding. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal and compliance matters clearly to non-specialists. A systems mindset: you like building processes and tools that make the right thing the easy thing. Experience operating at both a strategic and hands-on level across a broad operations remit. Strong self-management skills and the ability to thrive in a fully remote, fast-moving environment. Fluency in English. Professional fluency in another language is a bonus. Strong empathy and ethical fibre. *We encourage you to apply if you believe your skills and experience are a good fit for this role, even if you don’t tick every box above. When making hiring decisions, we aim to be inclusive and look beyond checklists. We want to find people who bring fresh perspectives and want to grow with our organisation. Benefits 25 paid holiday days per year plus flexible hours Fully remote, with support to work from a coworking space if you prefer Annual performance-related bonus Pension scheme after 6 months of employment (dependent on your location) Basic health insurance plan (dependent on your location) Annual team offsite Recruitment process If this sounds like you, please complete this https://tally.so/r/dWRNKK by November 20th, 2026. We will begin reviewing applications as they are received, so we encourage you to apply early. If shortlisted, you will be invited to up to 3 online interviews with the team (around 45 mins each). After the interview process is complete, we will quickly move to decision-making and offer.
