What will you be doing?

Adventure Queens is a not-for-profit organisation helping women and those who identify as women to feel more confident in the outdoors. We run free local events, offer adventure grants, and create helpful resources – all made possible by a small team and the generosity of supporters and partners.

We’re now building a small team of skilled Fundraising Queens to help us raise the funds we need to keep doing what we do – and do more of it! We're looking for people with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Grant applications and bid writing – identifying opportunities, tailoring proposals, and preparing strong applications.
  • Fundraising events – designing, promoting, and delivering creative events to generate income.
  • Fundraising strategy – developing and refining our approach, identifying new opportunities such as corporate partnerships and event sponsorship.

You’ll be supported by our Community Lead and work collaboratively with others, focusing on the strand that matches your background. We don’t expect you to do everything — if your expertise is grant writing, we won’t hand you a bake sale to run!

Time commitment: Flexible – we estimate around 2–4 hours a week, depending on your availability and the type of work you're doing. We're happy to work around your schedule, and we understand if you need to pause or scale back at times.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for people with experience in one or more areas of fundraising. This could include:

  • Writing funding applications, sponsorship proposals, or fundraising communications – crafting persuasive, tailored cases for support.
  • Building relationships with partners or donors – from initial approach to long-term stewardship.
  • Running or supporting campaigns – such as raffles, crowdfunders, or community fundraising events.
  • Bringing creativity, energy, or organisation to team projects that deliver income.
  • Thinking strategically about fundraising growth or income diversification, including identifying new opportunities.

We know fundraising is a broad field, so you won’t be asked to do it all!

Experience could come from working in a charity, not-for-profit, education, arts, or corporate CSR setting - anywhere you’ve successfully raised funds or secured sponsorships.

You don’t need to be outdoorsy (though it helps if you like the idea!). We’re especially keen to hear from people who are collaborative, reliable and supportive – and care about helping more women access the outdoors.

What difference will you make?

Adventure Queens exists to help more women and those who identify as women feel confident and supported in the outdoors. Whether someone is planning their first wild camp, hoping to join a local event, or dreaming of a big solo hike – we’re here to help make it happen.

Your support will help us:

  • Raise funds to keep our events and resources free and accessible
  • Run our annual Adventure Queens Grant and support more women to go on big adventures
  • Provide training and support for our incredible volunteer team
  • Reach more women who currently feel excluded from the outdoors
  • Build a more sustainable future by expanding our income streams and partnerships

Your fundraising skills – whether in strategy, storytelling, grant writing or creative thinking – will directly enable us to grow, deepen our impact and reach new communities. You’ll be playing a vital part in making the outdoors feel more open to more women.

Anything else...

Flexible – approx. 2–4 hours a week. Busier at times of campaign launches or grant deadlines, quieter at others.
