The Role We are recruiting two exciting new early career roles to join a major cataloguing project at the V&A Wedgwood Collection. This role is perfect for you if you’re interested in museum collections and archives, and bringing material behind the scenes to the widest public through high-quality online records and engaging digital content. These two new cataloguer roles will work on our ‘Beyond Wedgwood’ project, exploring the wider ceramics stories within the V&A Wedgwood Collection. In 2014, the Wedgwood Collection, on of the most historically significant ceramics collections in the world comprising over 175,000 items, was saved for the nation and taken into the V&A’s care after a fundraising campaign led by Art Fund and supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Within the Collection are approximately 60,000 items from the archives of the subsidiary company acquired by the Wedgwood Company which now urgently need cataloguing and digitising. These iconic Staffordshire brands, including Susie Cooper, Johnson’s, Mason’s and Coalport, form a core part of the V&A Wedgwood Collection and tell a story ‘Beyond Wedgwood’. We are looking for: • Cataloguer (Collections) – a fixed-term role supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund focused on the V&A Wedgwood Collection’s object collections. • Cataloguer (Archives) – a fixed-term role supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund focused on the V&A Wedgwood Collection archive collections. You’ll be part of our small V&A Wedgwood Collection team based in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, on the site of the working Wedgwood factory, and you’ll also work closely with colleagues across the V&A’s family of sites. You’ll receive training on documentation, object handing, and other skills needed to help make the V&A Wedgwood Collection open to all. We appreciate that either of the cataloguer roles we are advertising might be a good fit, so if you have a particular preference please let us know in your application. The V&A The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.8 million objects, books and archives that span over 5,000 years of human creativity.
