Software Controls Engineer

Rivan Industries is a pioneering synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonizing heavy industry through innovative technology. Our unique power-to-fuel machine, powered entirely by utility-scale solar, is designed for low-capex deployment. We have already developed individual operating modules of our machine, secured funding, and are now expanding our team to scale our operations and achieve our vision of making synthetic fuel more affordable than fossil fuels while sustaining life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground.

The role: As a Software Controls Engineer at Rivan Industries, you will be instrumental in accelerating the development of our control architecture. This includes building a Simulink module library, working across sub-system teams to enhance system development and modifications, developing simulations, creating testing environments, and writing machine controls for various operational and safety state machines. Your work will directly contribute to the deployment of our high-impact technology, offering you the opportunity to see its effects globally.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have core skills in Matlab, Simulink, large scale Simulink models, module creation, project management, Stateflow, C/C++, TCPIP sockets, and software safety IEC 61508. Preferable skills include knowledge of Matlab realtime & embedded coder, industrial controls protocols, realtime C application, and general compiled language knowledge.

Benefits: The position offers a competitive salary range of £60-80k, significant share options as part of the early team, extensive relocation support including an additional £6000 per year to live close to our HQ, and flexible time-off policies.
