Good health is an integral asset of both society and the economy. But for too long it has been a blind spot to investors. Since 2019 ShareAction’s health team has been working to harness the power of the investment system to improve people’s health. Good health is becoming an increasing topic of interest of investors, and our health programme is growing to meet this new demand. We want to make health a central part of all investors’ decision-making process and create a healthier and more equal society.

Position

This role will play a key part in the delivery of our ambitious health programme. You’ll lead our consumer health focused corporate campaign, Healthy Markets, which seeks to reduce childhood obesity by creating healthier food environments. You’ll be creative and confident in campaigning and bring topic expertise and campaigning knowledge to help us take our work to the next level. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities, and who is motivated to be part of forging a new way of doing so through the investment system. What you’ll do

  • You’ll be responsible for working with the Head of Health to develop campaign strategy, and lead the implementation of this to deliver our corporate campaigns focussed on improving the health of consumers. Currently this includes our Healthy Markets campaign, aiming to improve the healthiness of food environments.
  • You’ll lead on planning for, and oversee the delivery of, a robust research programme to underpin the Healthy Markets campaign.
  • You’ll be ShareAction’s spokesperson for consumer health and the Healthy Markets campaign. Representing us in the media and at public speaking events.
  • You’ll lead on all project management aspects of the campaign, including budget and risk management and business planning.
  • You’ll line manage our Campaign and Research Officer, and work closely with our Engagement team, to deliver the campaign aims.
  • You’ll build and leverage relationships with external partner organisations to build the campaign’s public profile and ensure we’re working in collaboration with organisations with an aligned mission.
  • You’ll work closely with the Head of Health to develop concepts, and robust proposals, for future consumer health focused corporate campaigns.
  • You’ll play a leadership role across ShareAction and work in collaboration with peers to maximise impact of our corporate campaigns.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • You will have experience of working on topics related to the commercial determinants of health and/or the food industry
  • You will be experienced in running campaigns and the ability to respond creatively and proactively as required while campaigning
  • You will have a strong strategic and analytical skills and the ability to interpret and draw conclusions from technical information.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, both in written and verbal format, and be a confident public speaker to a variety of audiences.
  • You will have good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced campaigning working environment.
  • You will have the ability to coordinate a research programme that creates the required base of knowledge to win campaigns. Includes the ability to commission and manage external contacts.
  • You will have an interest, experience, or willingness to learn, about the investment system and the role it plays in determining corporate behaviour.
  • You will need a keen eye for detail and ability to summarise for others in a clear and concise way.
  • You will have an ability to work both independently and as part of team.
  • You will have an ability to be flexible and reactive, responding to the needs of our campaign.

Other information

Contract type: 10 month fixed term maternity cover

Who it reports to: Head of Health

Salary: £42,000- £48,000 plus 8 per cent pension (non-contributory) and benefits including a healthcare scheme

Interview dates: 1st round interviews will be the week of the 16th May 2022. There will be two stages.
