Rivan Industries is a pioneering synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonizing heavy industry. Our mission is to make synthetic fuel more affordable than fossil fuels, thereby sustaining life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants that include a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor. We are also vertically integrated with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. Recently, we deployed the UK's largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to significantly scale our operations.

The role: As an Embedded Systems Engineer at Rivan Industries, you will be instrumental in scaling our embedded systems from prototypes to high-volume industrial deployment. Your responsibilities will include contributing to system architecture designs, supporting requirements capture, risk analysis, design reviews, and the design, test, and deployment of PCBA (mixed-signal, industrial I/O, communications). You will also handle firmware design (embedded C/C++, RTOS, embedded Linux), design wiring harnesses for signal and power distribution, and support the integration of end-products with production tools, supply chain, and procurement systems.

Job requirements: Core skills required include PCB design (Altium/KiCAD), Embedded-C/C++, RTOS, Embedded Linux, Yocto project, CI/CD, Git, automated testing, and familiarity with industrial communications standards such as Modbus (RTU/TCP), CAN bus, OPC UA, TCP/IP, RS-485. Hands-on building experience, fault finding, and repair are essential. Exposure to functional safety standards (IEC 61508 or related standards) is also required. Preferable skills include regulatory compliance (LVD, Machinery Directive, CE/UKCA), IEC 61131-3 (ST/LD/FBD), Python 3, Hardware-In-Loop testing, fleet management, and proficiency in Solidworks Electrical / ECAD.

Benefits: We offer a competitive salary range of £50-60k, depending on experience, with significant share options as part of the early team. The position is based in-person at our headquarters in Bermondsey, South London. We provide extensive relocation support, including an additional £6000 per year to live close to our HQ, and offer unlimited time off.
