Role Summary - As Engaging Communities officer, you'll lead Sherwood's Living Legends project, melding cultural, historical and ecological strands to help people connect with ancient and veteran trees. Your responsibilities will include defining target audiences, crafting compelling project messages, promoting the project across diverse channels and ensuring all engagement plans are inclusive and accessible.
Role Requirements - Applicants require experience in coordinating and delivering varied community events, including consultations tailored to different audiences and locations. Must have competence in leading groups outdoors and engaging diverse participants in nature-based activities. Strong partnership working and communication skills are essential, along with commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Competence with IT systems such as MS Office and collaborative platforms like Teams is also required.
Application Process Details - You'll need to undertake a Basic DBS Check as part of our pre-employment screening. This is a fixed term contract for 18-months, with the potential for an extension if the project progresses successfully.

You will co-create imaginative engagement approaches with consultants, using storytelling, heritage, and local myth to inspire both urban and rural communities. Your responsibilities will include defining target audiences, crafting compelling key messages for project's delivery-stage communications, and promoting the project across the Sherwood NCA through various channels such as social media, local press, PR events, and creative outreach activities. Additionally, you will ensure that engagement plans are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of diverse communities and participants.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience in coordinating and delivering varied community events, including consultations tailored to different audiences and locations. You should be confident in leading groups outdoors and engaging children, schools, and community participants in nature-based activities. Strong partnership working skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate with volunteers, community groups, and external organizations to achieve shared outcomes. You must be a strong communicator with excellent written, verbal, and digital skills, and be committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Organizational skills, proactive management of multiple workstreams, and competence with IT systems such as MS Office and collaborative platforms like Teams are also required.
