Rivan Industries, located at Rivan.com, is a pioneering synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonizing heavy industry. Our mission is to make synthetic fuel more affordable than fossil fuels, thereby sustaining life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants that include a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor. We are also vertically integrated with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. Recently, we deployed the UK's largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to scale this up by 1000 times in the next two years.
The role: As a Senior Controls Engineer at Rivan Industries, you will be responsible for owning the performance and reliability of deployed control systems. You will define and implement control standards for fleet expansion, manage engineering changes to deployed systems ensuring compliance with existing risk controls, and design control architectures that can scale from pilot to thousands of deployments. Additionally, you will standardize PLC, SCADA, and telemetry patterns across sites and develop remote diagnostics and fleet-wide monitoring capabilities.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have led the design, commissioning, and lifecycle ownership of distributed control systems in hazardous or high-energy process environments. Experience with implementing safety functions under IEC 61508, including SRS development, SIL verification, and change management is essential. You should have delivered systems compliant with LVD, Machinery Directive, and CE/UKCA IEC 61131-3, and have hands-on commissioning and fault-finding experience on complex industrial systems. Knowledge in IT infrastructure related to databases, networking, field-communication, and fleet management is crucial.
Benefits: The position offers a salary range of £70,000 to £90,000, depending on experience, with significant share options as part of the early team.
