Global Schools Forum (GSF) is a collaborative community of non-state organisations working to systemically improve education for underserved children, through:

  • creating learning and networking opportunities
  • scaling innovation through funding and coaching
  • generating and diffusing evidence of what works in education
  • strategic policy engagement

Our community of 66 organisations spans 52 countries from India to Uganda to Brazil, collectively running or supporting 30,000 schools who provide quality education to over 5 million children. We work in partnership with mission-aligned organisations, including funders, policymakers, and research institutes. Our vision is that all children can realise their potential through safe access to quality education.

We are looking for an experienced communications professional to lead on our external communications, raising the profile of GSF and its community with key audiences, and drive engagement with our ideas, research, and resources.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing GSF’s communications strategy, including messages for key audiences
  • Overall planning and co-ordination of GSF’s content and communication channels
  • Providing communications business partnering to GSF’s teams and to the CEO on organisational/corporate communications
  • Leading on media engagement including cultivating relationships with journalists, pitching stories and op-eds, and drafting news releases
  • Managing the redevelopment of GSF’s website
  • Supporting business development and fundraising
  • Monitoring and tracking the impact of our communications work

Knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrated significant professional experience in a communications role
  • Experience of developing and delivering successful communications projects and strategies
  • Experience of developing communications materials and messages for a variety of audiences
  • Experience of media relations
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to global education and shared belief in GSF’s vision
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and adapt to a changing environment

Contract: Full-time. Consultancy agreements will be considered for candidates not based in the UK, where GSF is currently headquartered.

Location: Flexible. Local work authorisation is required. Some international travel may be required, when safe to do so.

Hours: Given that we work across different time zones, some non-traditional hours for early or late calls may be required.

Holidays: 27 days per year, plus public/bank holidays (to be agreed based on where the candidate is based)
