WHO WE ARE We're FIRST UK, an EdTech charity using robots, role models, and competitions to make STEM more approachable and inclusive. We empower young people with the technical knowledge and soft skills to engineer better futures. It's an exciting time to join us as we transition from startup to scaling mode, backed by leading tech-enabled businesses like Arm, Purposeful Ventures, Smiths Group, Bloomberg, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and more. In summer 2026, we'll unveil a new 5-year strategy to expand our impact, aiming to grow our annual income to £2m by 2027.

THE ROLE As a Trustee and Changemaker, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing our new 5-year strategy. Your efforts will help make STEM less intimidating and more inclusive. We are looking for changemakers from diverse backgrounds who can use their lived experiences, knowledge, and relationships to increase our reach, fuel partnerships, raise our profile, and drive our influence. This role is about making real, impactful changes, not just reviewing reports.

REQUIREMENTS Ideal candidates are passionate about education and technology, well-informed, networked, and have a commercial mindset. You should be critical, seeing solutions instead of problems, and authentic, committed to genuine equity, diversity, and inclusion. Your role will involve advocating for our cause, opening doors, and driving influence.

BENEFITS This is an unremunerated role, but we cover reasonable expenses for travel to meetings and other Trustee obligations. Trustees meet quarterly, with at least one face-to-face meeting. You may also participate in sub-committees, attend competitions, and engage in fundraising activities.

APPLICATION DETAILS To apply, familiarize yourself with our mission on our website, answer three screening questions, and upload your CV. Shortlisted candidates will have informal chats with our CEO and potentially meet the Board. Applicants must live in and have the right to work in the UK. All appointments are subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
