Looking for flexible new client work whilst also being part of an exciting tech startup's journey? Then you've come to the right place...
π Get ready for counselling work taken into the 21st century
We welcome applications from everyone, but are especially keen to hear from applicants from:
- Minority backgrounds
- Native speakers of all non-English languages, but especially Hindi, Italian and Dutch
We have a diverse client base and a lot of our clients directly request a therapist with a similar background to them. Finally, we sometimes get requests from clients for sessions after 7PM. If that matches with your schedule, then weβre also particularly keen to hear from you!
Set your own schedule
You're in charge of your own availability and when you want to work. Put daily and weekly caps in place too: Spill fits around your life.
Forget about admin
We automatically add up all the work you've done each month and pay you. No more invoicing and chasing.
Keep on improving
In addition to the supervision you normally receive, we provide one hour of clinical supervision for every 50 client hours.
Own a part of Spill
Like all our counsellors, you'll be a shareholder in Spill if you join, rewarding you for being a part of this growing business.
π Join a community of like-minded practitioners
Spill isn't just a place to get client work. It's also a community of counsellors keen to share learnings, discuss approaches and support each other. As well as a private Slack group, where you can ask questions and celebrate successes, we'll also pair you up with a 'buddy' when you join. Plus there's the opportunity for (currently virtual) socials with other counsellors and the Spill HQ team!
π Be part of something bigger than your own practice
With Spill, you're not just helping individual clients. You're also helping us on our mission to make counselling and therapy accessible to 1million more people by 2024!
Because Spill is offered through workplaces, most clients are people who have never accessed the benefits of therapy before. Because we make therapy bookable in three clicks (with no questions asked), we're breaking down the barriers to starting it. And because we're trying to change perceptions of therapy towards something everyone should do, we're loud and proud about it β whether that's going on BBC News to talk about our cause or makingridiculous videos of our pro-therapy merchandise!
Spill is funded by top-tier venture capital firms Passion Capital and Seedcamp, and the companies we work with include Typeform, Depop and eve Sleep.
π€ Think about whether Spill is right for you before applying
We can only consider your application if you have:
β Already qualified (3-year degree or equivalent) β we don't accept applications from counsellors-in-training
β Registered with one of the main counselling bodies in your country (for example, the BACP, UKCP or NCS in the UK). We are unfortunately unable to accept student or trainee registrations
β At least 200 hours of private practice work under your belt
β Clinical supervision of your own (although we will provide you with additional supervision as well)
β Valid insurance that covers you for client work through Spill
These aren't necessities, but it would be especially great if youβre:
π From a background currently underrepresented among our counsellors, such as being from an ethnic minority background or being a native speaker of non-English languages, especially Hindi, Italian and Dutch
π Open to working after 7PM sometimes
π Comfortable using technology like video-calling software and messaging platforms
π Keen to get involved with our counsellor community
π Open to working in different ways, including single session therapy, written responses and more
π Happy to help us shape the future of Spill by engaging with us on some of the industries difficult problems, such as distribution of limited therapy
π Happy to work with clients based globally as Spill operates across all continents
If you want to read more about Spill before you apply, you can do so here - this includes testimonials from our existing counsellors if youβre keen to hear what they think about working at Spill!
βοΈ Kick off the application process
Successful applicants to Spill go through three stages:
- An online application. We ask for some basic information, your CV, experience and the answer to a couple of written questions.
- A 30 min call with us, so we can get to know you a bit better and you can get to know us.
- An exercise that simulates the work you'll do with Spill.
Equal Opportunities Statement
π At Spill, we are committed to building a company that includes people from a variety of different backgrounds. We're particularly interested in hearing from people from typically underrepresented groups in the tech & therapy industries. Our full equal opportunities statement can be found here.
