Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) was established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2004. Our aim is to transform finance, to make sustainable business ‘business as usual’. Today, we work with leading CFOs, finance managers, business schools, the Government and more to drive a fundamental shift towards resilient business models and a sustainable economy.

We have three internships available: Events Intern, Knowledge and Technical Intern and A4S Intern – the first two working with specific programmes, and the latter across our organization according to need. Download the full job description below for more information on each.

Each role will provide opportunities to develop new skills within a dynamic team environment, including technical, presentation, communication and project management skills. In addition, you’ll encounter senior representatives from the finance and business world, learning about and playing an active role in our work with them to accelerate their transition to sustainability.

Events Intern – You’ll play an essential supporting role in the organization and delivery of high profile A4S events, including the annual A4S summit hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales. You’ll also support the wider team with events across our global networks of CFOs, investors and accounting bodies – working closely with the communications team to develop high impact, engaging materials, and ensure that key insights from events are widely disseminated.

Knowledge & Technical Intern – This team underpins A4S’s work and credibility. It designs and delivers the suite of A4S practical tools, guidance materials, case studies, workshops and other outreach materials – to empower the finance and accounting community to integrate sustainability in decision-making, performance measurement and reporting. Your key areas of focus will be providing support for the development and delivery of technical materials; including undertaking research, liaising between teams for their input and review and maintaining key materials. By supporting this team’s objectives, your work will feed into every programme within our organization.

A4S Intern – You’ll support and gain a broad understanding of the day-to-day operations and programmes of A4S globally, and the running of an innovative and fast-growing not-for-profit organization. By supporting a diverse range of work streams according to need, you’ll work closely with the whole A4S team, ensuring that the thought-leading work they undertake is supported across both physical and virtual office environments. You will be a highly valuable part of the team, actively contributing to the organization’s running, and liaising with a wide range of individuals and organizations in connection with our work.

About you

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and experience of engaging with a wide range of people in a professional capacity are essential. We value candidates who are flexible and respond well to change, and who show proactivity, intuition, and initiative. Candidates must also demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, be comfortable working with various IT systems and software, and be able to prioritize their own workload against tight deadlines.
  • You should be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, and be able to build strong relationships with a wide range of individuals, globally. A ‘can do’ attitude and great interpersonal skills are key for any role with A4S.
  • A background knowledge of, or a demonstrable interest in, sustainability and business would be an advantage; as would experience using CRM software.
