Your Rebel Team 

This is a cross functional role that spans elements of the Operations teams within Rebellion.

How you’ll make a difference in this role: 

We are looking to add a qualified accountant to our team in our London office.

In this role you will help to build a robust and effective finance function within the UK element of Rebellion Defence that provides support across several areas of the business and ensures alignment with Rebellion’s global finance strategy. You will be instrumental in the growth of Rebellion through the undertaking of routine office financial activities associated with invoicing, book-keeping and reconciliation alongside the provision of direct support to our proposal and contract team in such areas as insurance, taxation and risk exposure management and UK/US policy formulation, reporting and intra company charging.

This role will be a standalone finance role for Rebellion Defence Ltd. A deep understanding of operational finance in a small business environment, UK GAAP, FP&A reporting responsibilities in a UK/USA business will be essential to the success of this position. 

This role reports to Oliver Lewis, our UK based founder. The role will have an operational management chain to Rebellion’s US Financial Controller and the UK’s Proposal and Contract lead.

What your mission is:

  • Liaise with the outsourced accountants and Rebellion’s US Financial Controller, with the preparation and completion of monthly and annual accounts and associated documentation.
  • Support preparation of financial reports and returns for presentation to Rebellion Defence’s UK Board (quarterly),
  • Maintenance of UK company financial records. 
  • Maintenance of UK company asset register.
  • Maintain organised records and files to assist in year-end tax preparation and to respond to internal and external financial related queries.
  • Conduct reconciliation of invoices/receipts to enable VAT re-claim.
  • Liaise with Rebellion’s US financial Controller and our external accountants to resolve identified issues and to ensure that Rebellion is compliant with current UK legislation.
  • Prepare and submit invoices for Rebellion Defence customers.
  • Manage payment of Rebellion Defence debtors.
  • Administer monthly payroll, benefit payments and payment runs and adjust as necessary in coordination with US Financial Controller
  • Assist with ensuring insurance requirements for the company and support specific contract requirements.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts that for national security and/or export control reasons cannot be shared with US colleagues or our external accountants.
  • Assist in the audit process by providing information and data as requested.
  • Administer the allocation and operation of budgets allocated to specific groups within the organisation.
  • Provide first line support to co-workers, clients, customers or stakeholders regarding financial information and to aid in the resolution of financial related issues. 
  • Assist in the onboarding of new employees to the company through briefing on Rebellion’s financial processes and requirements.

You may be fit for this role if your expertise aligns to: 

  • Hold a professional accountancy qualification recognised in the UK (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ATT) and/or a relevant Bachelor's Degree
  • Have extensive knowledge of UK IFRS
  • In depth experience of invoice/creditor management
  • Experience of providing financial support in the tech start-up sector
  • Be a self starter and comfortable in working with limited supervision.

Desirable 

  • Experience of managing financial aspects of UK Government contracts including those of a single-source nature.

The Nature of our Work 

We are driving fast change to an extremely regulated industry. Many of the national security programs that are supported by Rebellion’s products operate in secureenvironments and access to those spaces and the data in them may require an active personnel security clearance. It is a requirement of this position that you are able to obtain and hold a UK security clearance at above SECRET.
