The Role:
The Grocery Commercial Executive is a key member within in our sales team, supporting the account managers on a regular and ad hoc basis. The Commercial Executive is responsible for ensuring all grocery admin is completed effectively and on time, internal reporting is done regularly, the sales team are kept well-informed and are tasked with creating customer relationships with the Category Assistants. Over time, the Commercial Executive will become responsible for account management of some of our smaller/new accounts and managing the buyer relationships.
In a nutshell, you are responsible for:
1. Weekly EPOS reporting – you will be responsible for downloading external EPOS data on a weekly basis, completing internal EPOS trackers and reporting back to the business on the previous week’s sales performance, highlighting any variances to the forecast and longer term trends with the Category Manager.
2. Promotional calendar management – you will be responsible for updating customer trade plans, ensuring that all promotions are loaded with customers in time and ensuring promotional funding is correctly raised.
3. Promotional performance review – you will be responsible for tracking Pip & Nut and competitor promotional performance and supporting the Head of Grocery with this data
4. Finance sales support – you will be responsible for reviewing and signing off invoices, keeping accruals up to date, as well as completing the month end TTS process with the Head of Grocery, other account managers and the Finance team.
5. Account management – as your role develops, your role will include working on new business (e.g. M&S) and some smaller independent accounts allocated by the Wholesale/High St KAMs
6. Customer Engagement– working with the Shopper Marketing Manager, Head of Grocery and Sales Director to find creative ideas to engage customers. You will be responsible for cultivating a close relationship with the category assistants within the grocery accounts
7. New line forms – you will be responsible for loading all new line forms for the sales team, and arranging for product samples to be sent to retailers.
8. Eyes on the ground – you will be largely responsible for going on regular store visits, documenting them, and reporting relevant info back to the sales team
Specific knowledge, qualifications, skills & experience required:
· Team player – you will be able to work effectively with others in the team and ensure you have good communication skills.
· Excel savvy! You will need to be confident using excel to update trackers and tables and produce regular reports.
· Be prepared to get stuck in – we need someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and support the team however they need.
· Time management – you will need to be able to effectively manage your to do list and stay on top of various tasks at once.
· Strong commercial acumen – you will need to be commercially minded and a strategic thinker.
· Good at building relationships, both internally and externally.
