Role Summary
- Support in the landscape management works such as managing contracts, supervising contractors, and managing volunteers.

Role Requirements

- Qualification in forestry, countryside management, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- A full driving licence for travel across specified counties.

We aim to inspire and engage people to value and protect our natural woodland heritage. We are currently seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join our Southeast Region’s Operations team. This role is crucial for supporting the management of our sites across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, working closely with two other Site Managers.
The role: As an Assistant Site Manager, you will assist in the delivery of landscape management works, which includes supporting the management of site-based contracts, supervising contractors, and managing volunteers. You will also be involved in reviewing woodland management plans, conducting Woodland Ecological Condition Assessments, and carrying out site surveys. Implementing our Health and Safety policy on sites is a key responsibility, ensuring tree safety inspections, site risk assessments, and monitoring of work contractors are conducted efficiently. Additionally, you will engage with visitors and communities at key sites and support regional activities as needed.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have practical experience in land-based management within the forestry or nature conservation sector. You should have proven experience in community engagement and managing relationships with volunteers. Experience with contractor work and a strong understanding of contractual requirements and site standards are essential. You should be results-focused, self-motivated, and well-organized, capable of meeting tight deadlines. A qualification to HNC / Level 4 in forestry, countryside management, or a related field is required, or equivalent professional experience. A full driving license is necessary as the role involves regular travel across the specified counties.
