Role Summary:

  • Drive media coverage and influencer engagement for Kew Gardens as the Press Officer.
  • Closely work with creative programming, commercial events, and retail to promote visits and generate income.
  • Participate in events like Christmas at Kew, summer family activities, and big artist showcases.
  • Identify media opportunities and manage influencer content, both proactively and reactively.
  • Report to the Head of PR and collaborate with numerous stakeholders.
  • Partake in a press on-call rota and travel within the UK as the role might require.


Role Requirements:

  • Have a validated PR experience, preferably from a visitor attraction.
  • Experience in high-impact PR campaigns, including pitching and negotiating with media, setting up interviews, guiding filming, and influencer collaborations.
  • Be an eloquent presenter and possess stellar interpersonal skills.
  • Display earnest respect for biodiversity and comprehension of the prevailing environmental challenges.

The role: As a Press Officer, you will play a crucial role in driving media coverage and influencer engagement for Kew Gardens. You will work across creative programming, commercial events, and retail to promote visits and generate income for Kew’s vital work. This includes involvement in events such as Christmas at Kew, half-term and summer family activities, and large-scale artist showcases. You will report directly to the Head of PR and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, identifying media opportunities and managing earned influencer content through proactive and reactive requests. The role also involves attending events, traveling within the UK, and participating in a press on-call rota.

Job requirements: Candidates must have proven PR experience, ideally within a visitor attraction, and a track record of supporting high-impact PR campaigns. This includes pitching and negotiating with the media, setting up interviews, guiding filming, and working with influencers on an earned basis. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a genuine appreciation for biodiversity and an understanding of today’s environmental challenges.
