Role Summary

  • Manage 7 sites across Perthshire, Fife, and Angus of varying sizes, with duties including planning and conducting woodland works, and supervising contractors.

Role Requirements

  • Professional experience in forestry, conservation, or land management with a record of leading complex projects.
  • Knowledge in woodland ecology, health and safety management, and experience in Forestry Grant Scheme contracts.
  • A full driving license as the role includes travel across Scotland.

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of woodland environments. We are currently seeking a Site Manager to oversee our sites in Scotland, ensuring they meet our high standards of conservation and management. This role is pivotal in helping us achieve our strategic goals and contribute to tackling environmental and climate issues.

The role: As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for managing approximately 7 sites across Perthshire, Fife, and Angus, ranging from small areas to 135 hectares. These sites are some of the Trust’s most visited and high-profile locations. Your duties will include planning and managing woodland works, supervising on-site contractors, conducting ecological monitoring, and ensuring compliance with our health and safety policies. You will also develop work programmes, manage volunteers, and engage with communities and stakeholders to promote our conservation efforts.

Job requirements: Candidates should have professional experience in forestry, conservation, or land management, with a strong track record of leading complex projects and managing high conservation value woodlands. You should be knowledgeable in woodland ecology, health and safety management, and have experience working with government agencies on Forestry Grant Scheme contracts. A full driving license is required as the role involves travel around Scotland.
