Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

  • Must be an enrolled university student, preferably pursuing a master's degree.

Our team and mission at the European Space Agency (ESA) involve leading initiatives in Artificial Intelligence and processing technologies specifically for space applications. We are recognized as the Agency center of excellence for various advanced technological fields including Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Simulation Methods, and Sustainability Engineering. Our work supports projects across all areas related to CleanSpace, Life Cycle Analysis, EcoDesign, and more. We also perform crucial pre-Phase A mission and system design studies to prepare for future missions, providing cost assessments and developing next-generation methodologies.

The role: As an intern, you will engage with the ESA Standardisation Section, which plays a pivotal role in the development of European space standards through the European Cooperation for Space Standardisation (ECSS). You will use AI/ML engines to analyze and improve the application of ECSS standards in space projects. This includes developing tools to identify duplicated requirements, analyzing cross-references and metadata, and enhancing the usability of the ECSS Glossary.

Job requirements: Candidates must be university students, preferably at the master’s level, and must remain enrolled at their university for the duration of the internship. A strong background in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning is required, and knowledge of Natural Language Processing is an asset. Proficiency in English or French is necessary, and additional languages from ESA Member States are beneficial.
