Role Summary:

  • Lead People Operations in Tanzania at East Africa's largest youth skills service provider
  • Strategically oversee and execute operations within recruitment, staff experience, performance management, regulatory adherence, and HR administration
  • Cultivate a compliant, culturally aligned, high-performing team in conjunction with the Global People Team and Managing Director


Role Requirements:

  • A system-focused, detail-oriented individual passionate about enhancing employee experiences
  • Minimum 4 years experience in HR, including significant experience in managing operations, compliance, and people
  • Sharp understanding of Tanzanian labor laws, covering compliance to payroll, benefits, and immigration necessities
  • Experience in bustling NGOs or social enterprises is advantageous

Educate! prepares youth in Africa to learn, earn and thrive in today's economy by introducing an employment-focused school subject into secondary and delivering livelihood boot camps for out-of-school youth, with a focus on marginalized rural girls and young women. To date, more than 500,000 youth have been meaningfully impacted across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The Role:

Educate!, the largest youth skills service provider in East Africa, is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic People Operations Manager who will play a critical operational leadership role in ensuring the smooth functioning of Educate!'s people operations in Tanzania. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution across recruitment, employee experience, performance management, compliance, and HR administration. Working closely with the Managing Director and the Global People Team, the People Operations Manager ensures that Educate! maintains a culturally aligned, compliant, and high-performing team.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate is systems-oriented, detail-driven, and passionate about building strong employee experiences that empower teams to perform at their best. You should have at least 4 years of experience in HR, with a significant portion of that spent managing operations, compliance, and people. A solid grasp of Tanzanian labor laws, from payroll and benefits to workplace compliance and immigration requirements, is essential. Experience in a fast-paced NGO or social enterprise is a plus.
