Camp Manager, Operations Team

Job Description

The role includes, but is not exclusive to, the following core responsibilities:

Camp Build and Take-Down

  • Work with the rest of the team to organise the timely packing, transporting and building of camps
  • Noting anything requiring cleaning, replacement or repair and making sure it is dealt with in a timely and cost effective manner, in co-ordination with the Operations Manager
  • Ensure that the build quality is consistently high
  • Suggest, develop and implement improvements to the Hud Hud product, equipment, transportation or packing methods to streamline the entire process

Camp Management

  • Ensure staff are well turned out and able to complete their tasks
  • Welcoming guests and briefing them on how the camp works
  • Overseeing the service received by the guests and ensuring high standards are constantly and consistently met
  • Interacting with guests, ensuring that they are enjoying their stay in camp and their time spent with our guides 
  • Be able to speak with authority on Oman, its history, culture etc
  • Working with our freelance guides to ensure guests are having the best possible experience
  • Ensuring that guides and vehicles are ready to start each day’s tour with all the necessary equipment and at the correct time
  • Ensuring that the camp is properly maintained each day and left or packed away as necessary
  • Responding to any emergency situations efficiently and effectively

Staff Management

The Hud Hud team is from a diverse set of socio-economic backgrounds and different countries.

  • Being able to communicate effectively across certain language barriers and cultural differences is essential
  • Review staff performance giving positive feedback and making sure that they have the skills and motivation to complete the tasks assigned to them
  • Make sure staff are well dressed and look the part
  • Assist in the training of new staff

Key skills

It is a physically demanding job, the successful candidate will be energetic, positive, work well in a team of diverse nationalities and backgrounds, be able to listen and take advice as well as be ready to impart it and make sensible decisions under pressure. They should have a keen eye for detail, an outstanding work ethic and good interpersonal skills. They need to be organised, highly flexible and pro-active and be able to think and plan ahead beyond each day or week’s trips. 

An full international driving license is also required since camp manager’s are expected to drive within their role.

Our client profile, simply, is middle aged to elderly, affluent and European (there are of course exceptions). We often host families too of varying sizes and the majority of our guests are very well travelled. Eloquence and intelligence are paramount in order to instil confidence in guests.

As Hud Hud is a small team, each member will be expected to help out as and when is necessary, in any aspect of the company's running.
