Rivan Industries is a synthetic fuel company focused on decarbonising heavy industry by making synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels. Our mission is to sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground. At Rivan, engineering is about transforming technologies traditionally seen as low volume, bespoke, and expensive into solutions that are mass manufactured, standardized, and ultra low cost. Every design aspect is re-evaluated from first principles, questioning the necessity of each part and scrutinizing every manufacturing step.
The role: As a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Rivan Industries, you will own the design and manufacture of an entire Rivan sub-system. This could involve working across various modules such as reactors, electrolysers, and DAC. Your responsibilities will include generating concepts, capturing technical requirements, designing test-rigs to validate hypotheses, iterating design drawings with our fabrication workshop, and managing the assembly, integration, commissioning, and testing plans of the sub-system. You will also liaise with external vendors to support our production line.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of professional experience and hold a Bachelor’s or Masters in mechanical/aero or a related field. You should have system design experience including CAD (SolidWorks), design for manufacture/assembly, and part specification and procurement. Experience in hands-on workshop fabrication and build, a fundamental understanding of thermofluids, and competency in simulation/analytical modelling (e.g., python, FEA, CFD) are essential. You should also be skilled in test setup design, running experiments, and data analysis.
Benefits: The position offers a salary of £100-120k depending on experience, significant share options as part of the early team, private health insurance, and unlimited time-off. We provide extensive relocation support, including an additional £6000 per year to live close to our HQ in Bermondsey, South-East London. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
