As a Destination Specialist, you will be recruiting travellers onto our projects and handling the entire sales process. You will need to get to know potential travellers and recommend the most suitable project or expedition for them. We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual that is detail-orientated and confident talking to people from all over the world. The majority of our participants are aged between 17 and 25 years old.

We are a small team currently working remotely, but there will be a shared office space to use in central Cape Town or Exeter UK.

Main Responsibilities:

-        Recruit travellers to your portfolio of designated projects/locations 

-        Communicate (by phone/SMS/email) quickly and effectively with prospective travellers 

-        Ensure a smooth and positive customer experience throughout, setting the correct expectations

-        Use our CRM tool to effectively manage enquiries that come through our website from around the globe 

-        Achieve sales targets to ensure the business prospers and our projects make a meaningful impact 

-        Have an in-depth knowledge of your project portfolio, including: unique selling points, day-to-day activities and logistical details, in addition to understanding and recognising different motives for volunteering abroad (selfish and altruistic) and common sales objections. 

-        Work alongside our Placement Managers to ensure all travellers feel supported, engaged and fully prepared for their volunteer experience

-        Support other Destination Specialists when they’re on leave, working as a team to ensure no potential travellers have a bad experience. 

-        Work with the Sales Manager to track your performance and reach your full potential

-        Work with the Marketing Manager to generate new ideas to promote your project portfolio throughout the year

Skills and Experience

Further to this, the competencies that would ensure you're a good fit for the position of Destination Specialist are:

-        Ability to sell an experience rather than a product

-        Strong communication skills (listening, questioning, probing, etc.) 

-        Excellent customer service

-        Good organisation and time management 

-        Commitment, drive and enthusiasm 

-        Hardworking, with the ability to use initiative and problem solve

-        Flexible, open-minded and adaptable team player

A passion for responsible and immersive travel is a must, as well as an interest in community development and/or wildlife and environmental conservation. You should also have the ability to develop great relationships with our prospective travellers and team members. 

Our ideal candidate will have previous work experience in responsible travel, volunteer experience (at home or abroad), travel experience of any destination we operate in, and exposure to the UK and US travel market.
