The European Space Agency (ESA) is excited to offer a position as a Graduate Trainee in the ALTIUS End-to-End Performance Modelling, located at our Earth Observation Programmes directorate in ESTEC, Noordwijk, Netherlands.

The role: As a Graduate Trainee, you will be immersed in the ALTIUS mission, a dynamic Earth observation initiative aimed at monitoring stratospheric ozone and other atmospheric components with high vertical resolution. This role involves exploring modelling techniques, applying an End-to-End simulator, developing software for calibration data processing, and participating in validation activities for in-flight performance. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in a real-world space mission environment.

Job requirements: Candidates should be in the final year of or have just completed a master's degree in Physics or Engineering, with a strong background in optics and data processing. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience in data processing and mathematical modelling are highly beneficial. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
