Role Summary

  • Join ESA's Legal Services Department to provide legal advice supporting ESA's activities.
  • Work with a team of skilled lawyers in a multicultural environment.
  • Engage with the conception, negotiation, and implementation of legal instruments, including international cooperative agreements and new partnership models.
  • Contribute to the development of legal instruments and network with colleagues across the Agency.

Role Requirements

  • A recent or upcoming master's degree in law, preferably with a focus on public international law is required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are necessary.
  • Previous experience in international teams is considered an asset, as is proficiency in English or French.
  • Additional language skills are a plus, particularly in Member State languages.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is looking for a motivated ESA Graduate Trainee in Public International Law to join our Strategy, Legal and External Matters Directorate at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands.

The role: As an ESA Graduate Trainee, you will be part of the Legal Services Department, which offers a wide range of legal services and advice to support the implementation of ESA's activities and programs. Your responsibilities will include supporting a team of skilled lawyers in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment. You will engage in the conception, negotiation, and implementation of legal instruments, such as international cooperative agreements and new partnership models. Additionally, you will address new legal questions that arise, contribute to the development of legal instruments of cooperation, and network with colleagues across the Agency.

Job requirements: Candidates should have recently completed or be in the final year of a master's degree in law, focusing on public international law. You should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural setting. Previous experience in international teams is considered an asset.
