The Future Frontiers programme

In the UK, family income is the strongest predictor of how well a young person will do at school and the future opportunities they will have. Future Frontiers exists to change this. Our vision is of a society where equal access to education and career opportunities enables potential to overcome poverty.

We are an award-winning education charity with an innovative approach to tackling educational inequality in the UK. Our mission is to provide disadvantaged young people with the guidance, networks and opportunities they need to realise their potential at school and achieve post-16 qualifications that build towards secure and fulfilling employment. By partnering with schools and forward-thinking businesses we deliver a high-impact coaching programme to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We recently developed an ambitious 5-year strategy which adds a second year to our programme and provides even more 1 to 1 support for young people, deepening our impact.

Our strategy sets out how we will achieve our strategic vision statement: between 2021 and 2026, Future Frontiers will design, develop and rigorously evaluate an enhanced two-year programme that achieves meaningful long-term impact at the post-16 transition, transforming the life-chances of disadvantaged young people. During this period we will support over 16,000 disadvantaged young people. You can read more about our impact so far in our Annual Impact Reports on our website.

The role

We are looking for someone to lead on our Salesforce design, maintenance and development and become our inhouse Salesforce expert. We recently started managing our 2yr programme through Salesforce and now we need someone to make sure it is structured well and maintained to a high standard. You will work with all departments to expand and improve our use of Salesforce across the organisation, increasing the efficiency of our delivery team and maximising the usefulness of our data.

You will be supported by both the Head of Operations and Head of MER who have good knowledge of Salesforce administration.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who have not been to university or who have lived experiences relatable to our young people.

Your responsibilities

Salesforce maintenance – You will keep our Salesforce CRM up to date and fit for purpose, making big and small changes as needed. We aim for simplicity and ease of use for colleagues. Our recent rollout of programme management onto Salesforce is 80% complete so one of your first jobs will be finishing that project.

Design and implementation -You will be responsible for designing and developing new elements of our Salesforce to support the delivery of our 2021-26 strategy. The is likely to include moving our Fundraising work onto the platform. It could also include changing the way we import data or putting in place a new flow, for example.

Troubleshooting - You will be the first point of contact for the team when things go wrong or if a new process or flow doesn’t work as expected. You will be responsible for problem solving and designing a solution.

Deliver Salesforce training – You will train new staff on how to use Salesforce, as relevant for their role. You will look for opportunities to upskill existing members of staff, supporting them to be as effective as possible.

General support – You will assist the Partnerships team and Head of MER as needed with their day-to-day use of Salesforce. Examples include advising them on the best way to implement a change or designing dashboards.

Additional duties – You will also be required to take on additional duties as needed to support either the programmes team or the technology needs of the charity.

About you

Your experience

Experience of using Salesforce as an administrator is preferred but not essential. We will consider applications from everyone regardless of experience, although Salesforce experience of any kind will give an advantage and other CRM experience will give a smaller advantage. If you have minimal Salesforce experience, then you must be able to demonstrate that you can learn quickly.

Experience of working with data is essential. You will manage large volumes of data, in Salesforce and in Excel, as well as transferring it between the two. You should be comfortable analysing data.

Experience of, or demonstrable interest in coding and familiarity with a coding language, such as HTML, is an advantage.

Your skills

Problem solving – You enjoy getting stuck into a problem and can methodically work through several

stages to reach a solution.

Self-directed learning – You are ready to learn and enjoy doing so; you can teach yourself new concepts and techniques fast. You are confident directing your own learning and finding supporting resources.

Attention to detail – You naturally have an eye for the smallest details and can spot errors in amongst noise.

Communication – You can explain detailed technical concepts to various audiences in a clear, accessible way.

Independent working – You are comfortable working alone and managing your own workload. You can prioritise tasks appropriately, taking the needs of other people and projects into account.

What we can offer you

  • Generous annual leave of 27 days + bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Personal annual training budget, plus dedicated training time
  • Generous parental pay and additional childcare leave for child’s first 2 years
  • Employee assistance programme including counselling
  • Team building offsites and regular team socials throughout the year
