Some of our events include: 

  • The Muddy Dog Challenge Series: the UK’s first obstacle race for dogs and their owners on behalf of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home taking place across the UK. 
  • Run The River: a 5km and 10km timed run along the River Thames in Central London supporting Teach First
  • Splash Out!: Gladiator Events very own family water-themed event – a 5km run with 5 x water obstacles.
  • Trek24: a series of 24 mile and 24km treks based in East Anglia on behalf of East Anglian Air Ambulance. 
  • Only the Brave: a 6mile and 10mile challenge muddy obstacle course on behalf of East Anglian Air Ambulance taking place on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. 

The Role Purpose

The Event Manager will be responsible for all the pre-planning and delivery of a series of events across all four countries of the UK, supported by your Manager. You will ensure all events are executed professionally, on time, within budget and to client expectations. During the event day, you will manage a small team of Operations Staff and volunteers. 

  • Typical working hours are 37.5 hours per week 
  • The role will involve regular travel across the UK
  • The role will demand working for several weekends across the event season. Days in lieu will be offered for weekend days worked. 
  • The role will involve van driving and warehouse / equipment management. 
  • The role holder must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a larger events team at different stages

Key Accountabilities

  • Full Event Management of a portfolio of small events, with the support of a Senior Event Manager
  • Finding beautiful venues and walking routes across the UK, with the assistance of, and training from, the team if you are unfamiliar with route mapping. 
  • Attending Site visits to venues across all four countries of the UK. 
  • Building strong relationships with clients, working closely with them to develop a close knit partnership
  • Production of event documentation including but not limited to route maps, site plans, operations manuals, health & safety documentation, staff responsibilities, traffic management plans etc 
  • Ensuring that all permissions, health & safety documentation and operational documents are completed and submitted in a timely fashion 
  • Ensuring our events adhere to safe working practices and procedures.
  • Recruiting and managing freelance event staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific tasks 
  • Contracting and managing suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide their services whilst staying within budgeted limits 
  • Leading your own events: setting up the events on-site and assisting with their management on event day. This can be a physically demanding role. 
  • Managing event budgets and reporting to the Senior Event Manager when required
  • Logistics Management to include coordination of all event kit transportation. 
  • Assisting with our efforts towards improving our social and environmental impact, to continually improve on our performance as a Certified B Corp. 
  • Being an advocate of our Company values and mission, ensuring our suppliers, staff, clients and volunteers are inspired and motivated to join us in our efforts.. 

Knowledge, Skills & Personal Characteristics

Skills

  • One to two years’ experience in Event Management or similar role (preferred)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A knowledge or experience of charity fundraising events (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent time management 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Full UK Driver’s Licence
  • Personality
  • Have an energetic and lively personality, with the ability to motivate and inspire others 
  • Have a genuine passion for the outdoors and to be physically active 
  • Be passionate about making a positive social and environmental impact.
  • Be a perfectionist who strives to exceed expectations with events 
  • Have strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of audiences 
  • Is able to go the extra mile and is willing to get stuck in to all tasks
  • Have the ability to remain calm under pressure 
  • Have a knowledge of the charity sector, fundraising or outdoor challenge events (preferred)
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently 
  • Be willing to drive a variety of vehicles including Company vans, ATV and 4x4 vehicles

Renumeration & How to Apply

Role Location: London / Hybrid. One day per week to be spent at our London office, when not away on events. However we would consider applicants who are based further from London and may not be able to travel to London as regularly as once per week.

Salary: £26k - £32k depending on experience
