Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. Here’s our entire business plan. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

We are looking for a Process and Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to deliver sites safely, quickly, and cost effectively. If you enjoy challenging norms, ownership and high-speed execution, this role is for you.

The role:

  • Lead process and mechanical installation and commissioning of Rivan’s plant and associated pipework.
  • Lead first gas and gas quality verification
  • Contribute to and review grid entry unit and gas pipework design with external stakeholders
  • Drive Rivan’s machine optimisation and performance testing
  • Provide feedback to the R&D team to dictate machine improvements
  • Manage the routine maintenance and reliability of Rivan’s machines
  • Lead the operator training programme
  • Process safety design and operation including Rivan’s process hazard analysis

Core skills:

  • Experience commissioning, operating and maintaining systems with potentially hazardous processes
  • Awareness of the relevant standards for operating Hydrogen and Methane installations (e.g., IGEM, API, PSSR)
  • Competent supporting plant equipment change-out
  • Data gathering, interpretation and analysis
  • Commissioning test planning and execution
  • Analytical mindset for plant optimisation
  • Comfortable managing teams
  • Thrives in the field – you’ll spend meaningful time on active project sites

Specifics:

  • £60-85k Salary depending on experience
  • Significant share options as part of the early team
  • In-person work between our project sites and London factory
  • Extensive deployment support, including £6,000 per year extra to support with work, relocation, and/or travel between our project sites and our HQ
