Role Summary

  • Oversee the platform design, development, and implementation of the G2SB1 Galileo 2nd Generation satellites
  • Manage the ground test campaign, in-orbit commissioning, and in-orbit follow-up phases
  • Conduct engineering activities to ensure the satellite meets Agency requirements
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the platform subsystem and equipment requirements specification, design, testing, and verification

Role Requirements

  • A master's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of platform engineering experience
  • Proven experience in managing industrial work and teams
  • Knowledge of verification and review process and standards

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking two Galileo G2SB1 Satellite Platform Managers to join our Space Segment Management Office within the Galileo and EGNOS Programme Department, Directorate of Navigation. This position is based at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands.

The role: As a Satellite Platform Manager, you will oversee the platform design, development, implementation, and validation of the G2SB1 Galileo 2nd Generation satellites. This includes managing the ground test campaign, in-orbit commissioning, and in-orbit follow-up phases. Your main duties will involve engineering activities relevant to platform design, development, validation, qualification, and acceptance to ensure the satellite meets Agency requirements. You will also be responsible for the consolidation and maintenance of the platform subsystem and equipment requirements specification, design, development, testing, and verification.

Job requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and have a minimum of 10 years' experience in platform engineering. Extensive experience in managing/monitoring industrial work, managing teams, and knowledge of verification and review processes and standards are essential.
