The team entered its first Formula 1 race in 1966, since then McLaren has won 20 Formula 1 world championships, more than 180 Formula 1 grands prix, the Le Mans 24 Hours at its first attempt and the Indianapolis 500 three times. 

In 2023 McLaren Racing will be expanding our racing footprint to include Formula E. 

About Brand Partner Strategy:  

The role of the Brand Partner Strategy team is to ensure our partners achieve their marketing and business goals through McLaren, one of the most iconic and popular sports teams in the world. 

We do this by bringing strategic rigour, insight and creativity to McLaren’s new partner pitches, partnership activation, fan marketing and brand strategy. 

About the role

We require an Executive to join our Brand Partner Strategy team. The successful candidate help grow McLaren’s commercial partnerships by supporting the development of compelling, creative and insight-driven new business pitches and proposals. The candidate will work across racing series but will have a specific focus around our Electric Racing series: Formula E and Extreme E. 

As part of the role, you will also support the team across a variety of strategic projects that enhance our ability to deliver results for our partners and drive the performance of McLaren’s marketing activity. 

Role Dimensions:

  • Develop presentations and other relevant materials for new partner proposals 
  • Manage and review creative & design input into proposals. 
  • Support in developing strategically compelling arguments for partners to work with McLaren. 
  • Support the team with any further fan marketing or strategic initiatives 
  • Support the management of core team materials and commercially sensitive information

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in sports organisations, sports marketing or advertising agencies. Ideally with account management or planning experience. 
  • Able to prepare compelling and highly accurate materials (e.g. presentations) for partners. 
  • Able to take a brief from other team members and think through the needs of a client and brief-in the right solutions 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment 
  • Experience on new business pitches an advantage 
  • Experience in briefing design teams an advantage 
  • Growing understanding of the marketing and sponsorship landscape 
  • Excellent communication skills and a focus on accuracy 
  • A track record of getting things done against tight deadlines. 

Role Breakdown

Preparing partnership proposals and pitch responses (60%) 

Operational support for the strategy team (30%) 

Marketing and brand strategy – research, insight generation and planning (10%)
