Role Summary
- Managing the system activities of the ERS-EO Programme's Element 1 and preparing for the Earth Observation Governmental Service (EOGS).
- Achieving convergence of the EOGS system architecture with key external stakeholders.
- Managing procurement and technical aspects of the system activities, including the EOGS architecture study and technical operational simulator.
- Overseeing the management of industrial contracts and representing the project in all system-level discussions.
Role Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering or a scientific discipline.
- Multi-disciplinary knowledge of space system design, development, integration, verification, and testing.
- Experience in managing space project development and familiarity with procurement aspects.
- Knowledge of EO space mission operations and planning, as well as military and dual-use space systems.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a qualified ERS-EO System Manager to join our Earth Observation Programmes Directorate at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands. This role is pivotal in managing the system activities of Element 1 of the ERS-EO Programme and preparing for the Earth Observation Governmental Service (EOGS).
The role: As the ERS-EO System Manager, you will be responsible for achieving convergence of the EOGS system architecture with key external stakeholders such as the European Commission's DG DEFIS, the European Union Satellite Centre, and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme. You will manage the procurement and technical aspects of the system activities, including the EOGS architecture study and the technical operational simulator. Additionally, you will oversee the management of industrial contracts and represent the project in all system-level discussions.
Job requirements: Candidates must possess a master's degree in engineering or a scientific discipline. You should have multi-disciplinary knowledge of space system performance, design, development, integration, verification, and testing. Proven experience in managing space project development and familiarity with procurement aspects are essential. Knowledge of EO space mission operations and planning, as well as military and dual-use space systems, is required.
