Active England Tours is a travel company operating activity and leisure holidays across Britain. We specialize in bespoke itineraries, group departures, cycle holidays and arranging multi day packages for British and International guests. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as Operations Manager. We are searching for a hands-on individual with a background in operations and a passion for cycling. Participants applying are expected to have background experience in bicycle maintenance; logistics management or experience in operations, this can be either small or large scale.
Main roles will include:
Maintaining all bicycles and equipment to an exacting standard throughout the season for both our direct and operator fleet.
Preparing the bicycle fleet in accordance with business needs on a weekly basis, ensuring all tours have the correct bicycles ready in advance.
Purchasing and constructing new bicycles. This may require training other staff to help with additional workload.
Maintaining the inventory management processes, including inputting inventory tracking onto our organizational software systems.
Liaising with the on-call bicycle mechanic (which we are looking to utilize for all emergencies out in the field) for all emergency situations and regular bicycle issues. This role may include the Operations Manager being an on-call mechanic for support on tours.
Becoming the transport manager for the increasing number of Active England vehicles.
Developing and maintaining the vehicle maintenance schedule.
Building strong relations with local suppliers which may include other facilities managers, equipment suppliers and operators contracted with the company.
Supporting direct and operator trips, working alongside regional wardens to ensure effectiveness of all facilities.
Overseeing the operational hub and quality control, ensuring it is kept clean and tidy with all Health and Safety legislation.
This is a customer facing role with plenty of customer / guest interaction, applicants must have good people skills.
Guiding
There is the opportunity to guide within the company as we are looking to recruit up to 20 new guides for our 2023 season also. If you have an interest in guiding and operations, then do ask questions about the working opportunity to guide within the company and within this role, as we can offer the opportunity to grow within the company in a guiding proximity also.
We are looking for individuals with current qualifications in the cycle industry, guiding, or mechanics. Further to this there will be opportunity to receive training and grow within our business
Qualifications we can offer include;
Outdoor guiding qualifications.
First Aid qualifications.
Extended driving qualifications including obtaining a trailer licence and Private Hire licence.
