The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Sustainability Lead to join our Strategic Sustainability Office within the Strategy Department, under the Directorate of Strategy, Legal and External Affairs. This position is based at ESA Headquarters in Paris, France.

The role: As the Sustainability Lead, you will report directly to the Head of the Strategic Sustainability Office. Your primary responsibilities will include proposing, developing, and monitoring the implementation of the ESA Sustainability Strategy. This strategy aligns with ESA's corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles and the Agency's Strategy 2040. You will support the Head of the Office in managing the ESA Green Agenda programme and coordinate with relevant services within the Strategy Department to meet our environmental objectives.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field. Proven experience in space sustainability, strategy, and project management is essential. You should possess excellent knowledge of ESA and the European industrial space sector, including ESA Boards and their responsibilities. Skills in project and programme management, space engineering, and systems orientation are crucial. Additionally, familiarity with life cycle thinking approaches and ecodesign/life cycle assessment techniques is required.
