ISSOS is seeking a Study Skills Teacher to lead our course at St Andrews from June 24, 2026, to August 13, 2026. This role is designed to prepare students who are about to start their final, challenging years of high school with the vital skills needed for future university-level study.

The role: As a Study Skills Teacher, you will improve students' work habits and academic performance. You will assist them in developing a range of academic skills like critical thinking, time management, essay writing, presentation skills, and internet research. You will have your own class of international students aged 13-18 years old. Our classes are kept small to provide individual attention, personalised instruction, and create an encouraging, supportive, and fun environment. Although we provide a guide for each lesson, we encourage our teachers to bring their own experience and personality to each class and create their own stimulating and challenging lesson plans.

Job requirements: Previous experience teaching study skills is essential. Experience in teaching international students is preferred. You must be a confident public speaker and experienced in delivering seminars. Well-established research skills and confidence to mentor students are required. Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Course is beneficial. You must be fluent in English.

Benefits: The position is fully residential, and all staff will be actively involved in various events and activities for students. We provide accommodation in all locations for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation. Travel reimbursements and any finders’ fees are paid separately. Up to £150 reimbursed for travel to/from St Andrews.

Additional information: All of our staff must pass a full criminal background check. All staff are required to be on duty (on a rota basis) for evening programmes, activities, day trips, and arrival/departure days. To apply for our roles, you must be a UK citizen or have the legal right to work in the UK. Please note that we cannot sponsor visas for working in the UK.
