They're at an evolved stage of their Earth Observation Programmes Directorate at ESRIN in Frascati, Italy. In association with the EU, the role aims to expedite the implementation of the EU Earth Observation Governmental Service (EOGS) while combining dual-use Earth observation surveillance systems from various ESA Member States.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is excited to announce an opening for an ERS-EO/Downstream Ground System Engineer within our Earth Observation Programmes Directorate at ESRIN in Frascati, Italy. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the ERS-EO Programme, which aims to prepare and accelerate the implementation of the EU Earth Observation Governmental Service (EOGS) in partnership with the EU, and to integrate dual-use Earth observation surveillance systems from various ESA Member States.
The role: As an ERS-EO/Downstream Ground System Engineer, you will be involved in a range of activities including the definition and implementation of the EOGS-SM ground segment framework and ensuring interoperability across all ERS-EO downstream components. Your responsibilities will include contributing to system level activities relevant to the ground segment, supporting the architectural definition, and implementing ground system functionality. You will also manage technical elements of procurement actions, oversee the technical management of industrial activities, and support the design and validation of services using EO data, AI/ML techniques, and modeling environments.
Job requirements: Applicants should have a master's degree in a relevant engineering field, at least five years of relevant experience, and a high level of motivation and dedication. Experience in the technical definition and implementation of ground segments, particularly for Earth observation missions, is crucial. Knowledge of ICT architectures, security controls, and ESA or industrial implementation processes is also required.
