The People Team
We're here to ensure we hire and retain the very best talent to support Marshmallow's growth, enabling and empowering our people to develop their careers. We work across People Partnering, Talent Acquisition, People Operations, Internal Comms and Learning & Development. We're a team that uses data, plus our ability to connect with people, to improve the employee experience at every stage!
This year we have opened an office in Budapest, HU, and are looking to scale that Marshmallow hub over the next 12 months. Hence why we are looking for our first People person in Budapest to help support this growth as well as give an outstanding employee experience to everyone that joins Marshmallow HU!
We’re looking for someone with experience in People Operations who is excited by the opportunity to own all of our People processes in Budapest (from preboarding through to offboarding), and is looking to make a real impact as the go-to person supporting our people there. You will report into, and work closely with, the UK People team and collaborate closely with our brilliant managers in Budapest. Although this role will suit someone who is happy to hit the ground running and work autonomously, rest assured you will also have the support and backing of our UK People team (and our HU employment law specialists).
We have set up most of our People processes in Budapest already, however we’d like your input on how to make them even better for a seamless employee experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Fostering a real sense of community and belonging at our HU hub
- Preboarding communication with new joiners and administration (employment contracts, checks etc)
- Organising and facilitating employee onboarding days & other community events
- Supporting our People with areas such as benefits, time off, People systems, policies, employment law and relations, performance review cycles and engagement initiatives, learning and development etc.
- Administration of our HR System, Bob, to make sure it is up to date for HU employees
- Office Management - all the snacks and drinks are available, our visitors are welcomed and the person on point to help solve any office space related concerns
- Owning relationships with various external providers such as employment lawyers, our payroll providers, benefits and office vendors
- TImesheet management
- Exit interviews and offboarding

What we're looking for from you (Skillset & XP)
- Experience in People Operations and systems
- Working understanding of HU employment law and the Labour Code
- Excellent communication skills (as well as fluency in English and Hungarian) and EQ
- Confident and capable project manager - you can work with stakeholders from conception and drive a project to success
- Understand and use People data to drive decision making and show impact

Our process
We break it up into 3 stages:
- Initial call with Talent Acquisition (30 mins)
- A skill-based interview where you will meet Charlotte Brierley, our People Ops Lead and talk through your technical experience in more detail (1 hour)
- A culture interview with one of our trained cultural interviewers to check that your work style fits our processes and values (1 hour)
- We’ll let you know if you’re invited to an interview or not. But, as a small team with a lot of applications to consider, we can’t give personal feedback on each application.
