Job Purpose and Background

Are you passionate about how policy can contribute to an environmentally sustainable future? CDP is looking for a committed and dynamic Senior Policy Officer to join its Global Policy Team. The successful candidate will join a growing team of committed policy professionals and will work to embed sustainability into financial policy, supervision, and regulation. This is a global role with a focus on multilateral policy and will collaborate with CDP’s regional policy teams. A key focus of the role will be to support and deliver on CDP key policy priorities with financial market regulators, supervisors, international organisations, and other key stakeholders. This role will report to CDP's Senior Global Policy Manager, Sustainable Financial System, and work integrally with the global policy team.

Key responsibilities include: 


  • Support the delivery of the Sustainable Financial System Strategic Approach through engagements with financial policymakers, regulators, and supervisors. 
  • Deliver projects to provide capacity building for key policy stakeholders. 
  • Support CDP’s participation in the policy activities of sectoral initiatives, such as the Investor Agenda. 
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments on climate and environmental disclosure and support the updating process of the Global Policy Database on areas related to the Sustainable Financial System.
  • Support the production of knowledge products on sustainable finance policy for use by policymakers and regulators.
  • Support the sustainable finance aspects of the Global Policy Team’s campaigns around major events, such as G7, G20, and UNFCCC COP.
  • Help with responses to government consultations that are of strategic importance to CDP’s Policy Programme.
  • Support the Senior Policy Manager in coordinating the workstreams of the regional teams on sustainable finance.
  • Manage knowledge and be a knowledge resource for colleagues on the topic of sustainable finance policy and regulation.

You will have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


  • At least two years of work experience ideally in the field of finance, environmental policy, macroeconomic policy, or financial regulation and supervision.
  • An educational background relevant to the role.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • A desire to take ownership and responsibility for the work. 
  • Strong communication (verbal and written in English), presentation skills and a desire to seek out networking opportunities.
  • The ability to deliver results under pressure and take pride in working to a high standard. 
  • A flexible but diligent working style, with proven record of working within a team.
  • Attention to detail is critical.

Salary and benefits:  £30,650 - £38,000 per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
