Role Requirements - A master's degree in aerospace engineering and a minimum of five years experience in systems engineering is needed. Experience in active debris removal, in-orbit servicing, and sustainable close proximity operations is critical. Comprehensive knowledge of the European industrial landscape in these areas is also essential.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Space Safety ISAM Coordinator to join the Clean Space and Circular Economy Office within the Space Safety Programme Office, part of the Directorate of Operations. Located at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands, this role is pivotal in advancing ESA's commitment to sustainable space missions.

The organisation - ESA is dedicated to the development of missions, systems, and technology for eco-design, space debris mitigation, and in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM). The goal is to develop sustainable design solutions that mitigate environmental impacts and risks both in space and on Earth, and to foster a space circular economy that ensures the long-term sustainable use of space resources.

The role - As the Space Safety ISAM Coordinator, you will support strategic decision-making and coordinate the technical and programmatic aspects of future in-orbit servicing, assembly, manufacturing, and active debris removal missions. You will act as a focal point for the programme’s internal and external interfaces and collaborations. Your responsibilities will include supporting the Head of the Clean Space and Circular Economy Office, leading the establishment of mission objectives, coordinating the implementation of ISAM projects, and performing risk management.

Job requirements - Candidates must have a master's degree in aerospace engineering and at least five years of experience in systems engineering, including mission studies and relevant technology development. Experience in active debris removal, in-orbit servicing developments, and sustainable close proximity operations is essential. Knowledge of the European landscape and industrial capabilities in these areas is also required.
